Seventh Annual Electric City Reptile Expo slithers into Scranton

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — For those who consider themselves a bit squeamish about slithery creatures, consider yourself warned. Reptile lovers from near and far united at the Hilton Hotel Conference Center in Downtown Scranton on Sunday.

They took part in the Seventh Annual Electric City Reptile Expo.

It had everything from little lizards to large snakes and just about any reptile in between.

Those who love reptiles encourage others who are not big fans to keep an open mind.

"Holding a snake, and it might sound corny or something like that, but like it can be a magical experience for people because a lot of people are scared or they hate them and they don't even know why," Electric City Reptile Expo Co-Founder Matthew Helring said.

"It's a lot of fun talking to a lot of people and showing them that some of these animals can actually make really good pets," Vendor and Owner of Joe's Tarantulas and Wildlife Biology Professor Joe Iacovaczzi explained.

This was the second of three Electric City Reptile Expos this year.

The next one is scheduled for November in Downtown Scranton.
