Taking patriotism high above Hazleton in Skydive for Soldiers event

HAZLE TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Some people are taking their patriotism high into the sky this holiday weekend near Hazleton, way above Hazleton Regional Airport. High-flying folks took part on Sunday in Skydive for Soldiers.

The sky diving business, Above the Poconos Skydivers, held the adrenaline rush event.

Organizers say the veteran-based non-profit, Wounded Warriors Project, received $35 from each tandem jump this weekend.

Some jumped to honor a vet, others did it for the thrill, and some jumped for both.

Church merger in Lackawanna County makes history

"I saw something about this for supporting Wounded Warriors, and everything they go through, they deserve any and all the support they can get. And skydiving is something I've been wanting to do for a while, so I figured I might as well kill two birds with one stone," Hazleton Skydiver Earl Bruzgulis stated.

"The weather was absolutely beautiful, and the excitement and the experience it created for those people was just priceless," Above The Poconos Skydivers Co-Owner Danielle Andreas explained.

Organizers say what made the experience extra patriotic is that some of the tandem jump instructors are u-s military veterans as well.
