Man robbed by four, allegedly beat with porch chair

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are investigating a robbery after they say a man was beaten by four men and assaulted with a porch chair.

According to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department, a 47-year-old man reported to officers that while walking on Carey Avenue near Academy Street on July 8, around midnight, four men confronted him.

Four vehicles found with gunshots after shooting

The suspects, between the ages of 18 and 21, began to assault the victim, with one grabbing a chair from a porch and hitting the victim over the head, police said.

The suspects stole the victim's cellphone and $26 in cash.

The victim was taken to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries.
