LAUREL RUN, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— If you have a need for speed, a long running tradition is revving up in Luzerne County.
The 119th running of The Giants Despair Hill Climb is taking place this weekend.
Preparations are underway for event, which began in 1906.

Crews were seen hanging up signs and tents have been set up for the event put on by the Giants Despair Hill Climb Association.
"I got into racing last year, and I never thought I was going to race, the opportunity arose, and I got into it and it's a rush. It's driving up a hill as fast as you an in a car that will let you go as fast as it can, it's fun," expressed Laurel Run Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief/ Racer, Joseph Tavaglione.
The Giants Despair Hill Climb takes place Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.
