Body of Pa. kayaker recovered from Delaware Water Gap

BUSHKILL, PIKE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The body of a kayaker has been recovered after capsizing along the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

On Wednesday, park rangers from Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and rescue teams from Bushkill Fire responded to a call involving a capsized kayaker. Rescuers were on scene within 33 minutes.

They recovered the body of a 54-year-old man from Blakeslee, two miles downstream of Bushkill Access, where bystanders had brought the victim to shore, according to the National Park Service.

As a reminder, visitors should take precautions when swimming, boating, wading, or kayaking in the Delaware River.
