911 outage resolved after temporary outage

(WBRE/WYOU)— The 9-1-1 outage that was affecting 9-1-1 centers across Pennsylvania has been resolved according the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA).

PEMA announced just before midnight on Friday that the outage affecting the Next-Generation 911 (NG911) has been resolved after an almost 10-hour outage.

“From the moment we were notified of the outage, our staff continuously worked with our vendors and county 911 partners to restore full service to the system,” said PEMA Director Randy Padfield. “The 911 system is the backbone of our emergency response system, and we will continue to ensure it is there when you need it.”

Pennsylvania was experiencing a 9-1-1 outage, and individuals were asked to go to their nearest fire and police department or your local communication center.

PEMA confirmed that there is an intermittent 9-1-1 outage that started around 2:00 p.m. on Friday and that people may not be able to reach 9-1-1.
