The responding officer then called for a tech rescue team in assisting to get the men out of the mineshaft using a rope system, according to officials.

Chief Temarantz says that the shaft has been there since around the early 1900s.

The man was taken to a local hospital and treated for injuries, according to officials.

Chief Temarantz says it is unknown why the men were in the mineshaft to begin with.
