Crews quickly extinguish fire in Wilkes-Barre

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A fire at a house on George Avenue was quickly put out by first responders Thursday morning.

According to a resident, the fire alarm went off around 7:30 a.m. He believed that an electrical fire had begun in the attic before spreading to the rest of the house.

All the residents were able to escape safely while they waited for crews to arrive.

Construction worker allegedly assaulted by three men

Crews quickly arrived on the scene and successfully extinguished the blaze within 15 minutes. First responders remained on the scene to survey the damage.

No damage to the house was visible externally.

The family is now staying elsewhere.
