Remembering man behind Scranton 'Holiday House'

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man who brought so many smiles to northeastern Pennsylvania through his holiday-decorated home has passed away. Tom Culkin was the man behind what many for decades called the "Holiday House" in South Scranton.

He would adorn his house and fill his yard on Moosic Street at Christmas, Easter, and Halloween time with lots of lights, animated characters, and all sorts of decorations.

The retired Scranton police officer was also a longtime member of the Scranton Saint Patrick's Parade Association.

He passed away on Thursday after a battle with cancer. Tom "Beansie" Culkin was 77.
