PA veteran chasing his Paralympian dreams

(WBRE/WYOU) — A veteran is going for gold at a national wheelchair sports competition designed for those who serve our country.

For the fifth year, 35-year-old Kenneth Keitt of East Stroudsburg will compete in the 2025 National Veterans Wheelchair Games in Minneapolis.

He is taking part in several events, including shotput, weightlifting, and his favorite, javelin.

He says the wheelchair games have given him the drive to continue to fight to achieve his goal of becoming a Paralympian.

"It's not only just being around Veterans and the camaraderie, but also to get that sense of competitive edge; it brings you back to the days when we were enlisted and we're able to get the adrenaline pumping, have a good time, and be around like-minded people," Keitt explained.

Two years ago, Keitt's javelin throws at the wheelchair games qualified him to compete as a Paralympian, but a hand injury pushed back his plans.
