Councilman charged for cabin calamity in Susquehanna County

APOLACON TOWNSHIP, SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A local councilman has been charged in connection with vandalism at a hunting cabin earlier this year. Police say he is facing multiple counts of criminal mischief as well as one count of trespassing.

Adam Christian still holds his seat on Swoyersville council, but with the charges he is facing, many in the community want to see that change.

Surveillance footage captured on April 23 shows a man casing and vandalizing a hunting cabin in Susquehanna County.

Footage shows him smash out a window with what looks to be a hammer before attempting to break another.

Police, and members of Rosehill Sportsman's Club, all believe the man in the video to be Adam Christian.

"Recently, we had thrown him out. In October of 2023 and ever since then, damage has been happening to the outside of the cabin," Hunlock Creek resident Kenneth Christian told 28/22 News.

"Kenny called me and said, 'We got him, it's 100% Adam,' and whatnot. And I said, 'Okay, call the police.' And then a couple days later, we met the police here and showed them all the footage and everything we showed you," Dave Hunt from Shavertown said.

All around the cabin, signs of destruction. Among the most recent damage, graffiti reading "pride proud" on the front of the cabin.

Right between the window he successfully broke, and the other, made out of plexiglass, which he failed to damage.

But this isn't the first time they say he damaged the property.

They say the trail of destruction goes back nearly 10 years, and started when Adam was a member at the club.

When he was kicked out in 2023, they say the property damage only got worse.

"It's happened three times in the past two years. Damage being done, all the windows being put out, spray paint, locks damaged. Just- destruction to all levels," Kenneth added.

"You wanna come enjoy yourself, right? And then I gotta come up here and fix everything all the time. But, like I said, he ain't beating me," said Hunt.

The men say they added cameras and reinforced the cabin doors and windows, believing eventually he'd be back. Now, they just hope they can use their cabin in peace.

"I just want it ended. I want to come up here with my family and enjoy myself," Kenneth explained.

We reached out to Adam Christian for comment on the charges. He did return our call, but said he could not speak without his attorney.
