Woman charged with posing as nurse in Pa., other states

(WBRE/WYOU) — State police report that a woman who has been posing as a nurse since 2020 in facilities across Pennsylvania has been charged.

According to PSP, Shannon Womack worked as an LPN, RN, and RN supervisor at several facilities in Allegheny, Beaver, Washington, and Westmoreland Counties.

Sarah Healthcare Facility in Bradford County was a facility that Womack worked at within the last year, where she pretended to be a nurse, authorities say.

Investigators stated Womack used the identities of real nurses to get jobs, using fake references to clear checks, and that her criminal activity spanned from Georgia to Connecticut.

Womack was pulled over in Pittsburgh in April, and state police said they found medical records and various prescriptions belonging to nursing home residents.

Investigators confirmed Womack used the following aliases in various parts of the state:

Shannon Nicole Grimes

Shannon Nicole Lawson

Shannon Nicole Lethco

Troopers noted Womack has multiple warrants in Georgia, New Jersey, Indiana, and Tennessee related to impersonating a nurse.

If any of the names listed match employment records at a provider`s facility, they are asked to contact PSP Washington at 724-223-5200.

Womack is charged with corrupt organizations, endangering the welfare of care, identity theft, forgery, and multiple other offenses.

The investigation is ongoing.
