(WBRE/WYOU)— A heads up for drivers in the Lackawanna County area.
Lane restrictions on Route 11 are causing traffic changes and delays.
Beginning Monday, a preservation project is taking place near parts of Scranton and South Abington Township.
PennDOT will use a new process called cape seal.
This will be the first time PennDOT will use the method in the state.
Part of Lake Scranton walking path closed temporarily
"PennDOT is partnering with industry to perform a pavement preservation utilizing the cape seal process, and basically, the cape seal process is a combination of a seal coat application combined with a micro surfacing application, essentially giving a paved surface. The purpose of the cape seal is to make sure that we seal up our roadway, essentially extending the life of our pavement," explained Lonell Tomaine, Assistant District Executive Maintenance Division at PennDOT Division 4.
There is a detour in place for drivers.
Work is expected to wrap up on August 6.
