Man identified after fatal Sugarloaf Township crash

SUGARLOAF TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The man that was involved in a fatal two-car crash has been identified, according to Luzerne County Coroner Dion Fernandes.

Fernandes says that man killed has been identified as 38-year-old Matthew Brown of Elysburg, who was leaving work when the crash happened.

Officials tell 28/22 News crews were called to the 900 block of PA-93 at about 2:45 p.m. for a reported crash.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) says a crash closed PA-93 in both directions.

The roadways were closed for several hours and have since reopened.

Fernandes states that the cause of the crash is still under investigation State and Butler Township police, and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning.
