SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Big improvements to a Lackawanna County park are being celebrated Wednesday. A ribbon-cutting was held at Weston Park in Scranton this afternoon to mark the completion of the upgrades.
The park received a total of $396,000 thanks to a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources' community conservation partnerships program, and matching community development block grant funds.

The new features include a new walking trail and playground equipment.
"Really exciting! This park gets a lot of use; not everybody knows about Weston Park, which is an addition to Weston Field. We have two Westons in the city of Scranton, so really great place. And then the Arc of NEPA has their summer camp up here, which is really great! We'd love to see our kids of all ages and abilities be able to utilize our facilities here in Scranton," Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti stated.
Weston Park is open seven days a week from noon until 6:00 p.m.
