Police say a 13-year-old boy is dead after suffering injuries at the hands of his foster parent.
According to an affidavit obtained by 28/22 News, 39-year-old Cesar Delgadillo lashed out after hearing troubling accusations about the victim.
Court documents state Delgadillo caused injuries to the boy's head, chest, back, and hands over the course of several hours and prevented him from leaving.
The injuries, so gruesome that blood spatter was found in several rooms of the house, with the other children living in the home being directed to clean it up.
Delgadillo is being held at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility and is charged with Criminal Homicide and other related charges.
Neighbors nearby are still looking for answers.
"It's pretty crazy for something like that to happen in this development. It's a pretty calm area. You don't expect anything like that to happen," Nahal added.
"We live in a safe community. We all trust one another, so this is just very surprising for all of us and very upsetting," a neighbor who wished to remain unidentified told 28/22 News.
Neighbors say they didn't know much about the family, but they always seemed friendly.
"The boys were mostly outside playing basketball all the time. Riding bikes, they looked like they were always having a good time. The kids were very hardworking. They were out taking care of the lawn and all the landscaping. They would wave to us and say hello and ask how we are, but that's as much as we know about them," the anonymous neighbor continued.
"It's a pretty close community, so everyone kind of knows each other. But, that house personally I did not know, but still crazy to hear that happen," Nahal stated.
Pennsylvania State Police and the Luzerne County District Attorney's Office are investigating the stabbing.
