Arson investigation underway after fire destroys home

ELDRED TWP., LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police are investigating an arson that destroyed a home in Lycoming County.

Pennsylvania State Police Troop F Fire Marshal Unit responded to the 6000 block of Pleasant Valley Road in Eldred Township for a fire investigation that occurred on March 26.

Investigators say the fire started on the front porch and rapidly progressed to the rest of the house. Fire debris that was collected showed that "an accelerant was present" on the front porch, according to state police.

Therefore, authorities have ruled that the fire was incendiary and an act of arson.

A family of four was able to evacuate the house without any injuries.
