PSP Troopers recovering after Susquehanna County shooting

THOMPSON TOWNSHIP, SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — 28/22 News has an update on the two Pennsylvania State troopers who were ambushed Thursday by a gunman in Susquehanna County.

Troopers William Jenkins and Joseph Perechinsky were each shot twice while responding to a deadly shooting in Thompson Township.

A Geisinger spokesperson says Trooper Jenkins was released on Saturday from Geisinger Wyoming Valley following treatment of gunshot wounds to both arms.

Meanwhile, Trooper Perechinsky remains at Gesinger CMC in Scranton, listed in good condition following two gunshot wounds to the torso.

The shooter, 61-year-old Carmine Faino, was shot to death during a standoff with police, hours after he killed his neighbor, 57-year-old Lori Wasko.

Investigators are searching for the motive behind the shooting.
