PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Tomato Capital of the World is gearing up for its Annual Tomato Festival.
Representatives from M. Mayo striping painted a red line down Main Street in Pittston, while red tomatoes were spray-painted along the route.
The marks will line the way for the 42nd Tomato Festival, starting next Thursday.

The event will feature all kinds of Italian favorites, from pizza and pasta to delicious desserts.
"We pride ourselves on being very artistic; we have a ton of beautiful murals in town, a lot of great art pieces. So, I think this is just another element to that, that we paint our line red and that we have these beautiful tomatoes painted, and I think for the parade specifically, it gets people really excited for it," Tomato Festival Committee Sarah Cianfichi said.
The Pittston Tomato Festival takes place Thursday, August 21, through Sunday, August 24.
