NWS flash flood warning expires after roads take on water

(WBRE/WYOU) — Severe flash flood warnings were in effect for Lackawanna and Luzerne counties on Wednesday afternoon.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms were reported across the two counties.

Flooded basements have been reported in Dunmore.

The National Weather Service (NWS) said the following areas were affected at the time:

Scranton

Pittston

Dunmore

Old Forge

Archbald

Dickson City

Moosic

Olyphant

Clarks Summit

West Wyoming

Moscow

Mayfield

Elmhurst

Glendale

Mount Cobb

Blakely

Taylor

Exeter

Swoyersville

Duryea.

The NWS warned that the flooding was life-threatening and to turn your car around if drivers encountered a flooded road.

The warnings from the NWS have since expired.
