Reward offered for 5-year-old unsolved homicide

HANOVER TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police are offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who can help solve a 5-year-old homicide investigation.

On August 09, 2020, calls concerning a shooting on Boland Avenue in Hanover Township were coming in. Police stated two men, Fernando Vasquez Vittini and Jose Carolos Matos, were shot while seated in a vehicle in front of a home on Boland Avenue.

According to PSP, two suspects entered the backseat of the vehicle that Vittini and Matos were in, then shot the two victims. Police said Matos fled on foot, while Vittini drove away and died from his injuries at the intersection with South Main St. and St. Mary’s Road.

Both suspects fled the scene in a red Chevrolet Impala that a third suspect was driving. State police later recovered the suspected car involved.

Callers to PSP Tips could be eligible for a cash reward worth $5,000 for information that leads to solving the homicide.
