(WBRE/WYOU) — Two days before their wedding, U.S. Republican Congressman Rob Bresnahan and his fiancée, Chelsea Strub, say they have been threatened on a website for their bridal shower. Strub made a statement responding to the threats.
The couple is set to marry on Saturday. Their wedding registry website was filled with threatening messages directed towards the couple.

A comment from a person named "Luigi" saying "See you soon!" was interpreted as a death threat by the couple because of the shooting of the UnitedHealthcare CEO by alleged gunman Luigi Mangione.

The statement from Strub, provided to 28/22 News by a spokesperson for Bresnahan, reads,
"Rob and I knew what we signed up for when he decided to run for Congress to fight for Northeastern Pennsylvania. But our wedding guests didn’t sign up for these threats, and now their safety is at risk because far-left extremists have decided to politicize our wedding. These are the same people who openly admit that ‘there needs to be blood’ and are posting death threats on our wedding website. There is a clear line when it comes to basic decency, and this crosses it."

A spokesperson for Bresnahan confirmed that his team has been in touch with Capitol Police and local law enforcement regarding the threats.
