EAST STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A children's non-profit is making sure hundreds of students in the Poconos will start the school year off right. The non-profit Angels and Dragonflies held a Back-To-School Giveaway on Saturday in East Stroudsburg.
Volunteers handed out backpacks filled with school supplies, including folders, notebooks, pencils, and crayons.
Organizers say the idea behind this is to help children in need start the semester on equal footing with other students.

The handout was prepared to help as many as 400 students, no questions asked.
"There's a lot of single mothers out there that just can't afford to provide for their children and are really struggling to do so, and that's where Angels and Dragonflies come in and host these community events to really step up and help the community in ways that there's gaps and missing pieces," Volunteer and Previous Recipient Siera Stoen told 28/22 News.
"It's a huge help 'cause I'm a single mom of two kids, so all the supplies are a huge help for me," East Stroudsburg Parent Maizena Beboska said.
Saturday's event also included a petting zoo, face painting, and free toys and snacks.
