PECKVILLE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Fresh cuts, full confidence, and a little help heading back to school in Peckville. Inside Hometown Barber Company on Sunday, clippers buzzing, kids in the chair, all for free.
The event, called Cuts for Kids, gave children a chance to start the year looking their best.
Donations raised go to the charity Chop Out Hunger, with a local realtor matching up to $350. The organizer says it's about more than just a haircut.

"If you look good, you feel good, and every kid should get a chance to go back looking and feeling confident for the first day of their new year," said Hometown Barber Company Owner and Stylist Danielle Barrett.
"It's been really helpful just being able to participate in community events and get some help with back-to-school, which helps a lot, just the supplies and everything," Peckville parent Lauren Scott said.
Organizers say they raised close to $1,000 on Sunday. This is the second year in a row that Hometown Barber Company has hosted Cuts for Kids.
