"Anytime we can introduce new fire officers, that's the next generation and new firefighters with prior military service, it's a good day. It's a good thing for the Wilkes-Barre Fire Department and for the Wilkes-Barre city residents that we all serve," said Chief Jay Delaney.

Two other firefighters in the department were promoted. Wilkes-Barre Fire Captain Robert Stehle was promoted to the city's lead fire inspector and firefighter and EMT Derek Zalenski was appointed as the new captain.
