WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — John Oates will be performing at the City of Wilkes-Barre's free summer concert on Public Square on Saturday, August 23.
The concert will begin with opener Bret Alexander at 7:00 p.m., with John Oates and his Good Road Band starting around 8:00 p.m.
There will be local food vendors present, including Bulldog BBQ, Cosenza's on the Go, Geraldo's Pizza, Handel's Ice Cream, Snook Wings and Things, Tony Thomas Lemonade, Yogi's Potato Pancakes, and more.

The City says alcohol is not permitted on the square during the event. People are welcome to bring their own chairs and blankets to the concert.
Last year's concert featuring Starship drew over 7,000 people to Public Square.
Streets surrounding Public Square will close at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, and parking will be available for $5 with credit or debit cards only starting at 4:00 p.m. in the following lots:
James F. Conahan Intermodal Garage—entrance located at 48 South Washington Street.
LAZ Parking Central Garage—entrance located at 52 South Main Street.
LAZ Parking Park and Lock North—entrance located at 30 North Main Street.
LAZ Parking Park and Lock East—entrance located on 10 North Washington Street.
Wilkes-Barre Parking Authority Lot—entrance located at 25 West Northampton Street.
At 4:00 p.m., handicapped only parking will be available at City Hall's parking lot on a first-come, first-served basis, limited to 50 spots total.
