LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Luzerne County put out a notice of a possible data breach that may have involved personal information on Thursday.
Luzerne County posted the notice saying there was suspicious activity on an e-mail account associated with the county.

The notice states that county officials quickly suspended the account and launched an investigation into the nature and scope of the breach with the assistance of cybersecurity experts.
Luzerne County says that so far, the investigation has found that an unauthorized person may have accessed the account and viewed information on it.
The notice states that there is no evidence that any information that may have been accessed has been used in an unauthorized manner. However, the county urges individuals to be vigilant against any incidents of identity theft or fraud on their credit reports and account statements.
The investigation into the security breach is ongoing.
