MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Golfers hit the greens for a good cause on Monday in Monroe County.
The Pocono Mountain Regional Police Foundation hosts a golf tournament every year at Pinecrest Lake Golf and Country Club. The fundraiser kicked off with the golf ball drop from a helicopter.
The foundation helps to raise funds for the department's K9, SWAT, and bike patrol units, from veterinary care to uniforms and body cameras.

Proceeds also support various groups in the community.
"We give to the local little leagues, we'll give to the local SAD organizations, so it's not just funds for necessarily police operations, but it also goes to other outreaches within the community," Pocono Mountain Regional Police Chief Chris Wagner told 28/22 News.
The police department is celebrating its 31st anniversary this year.
