KINGSTON TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man is facing several charges after a police chase Monday night.
Kingston Township Police say around 6:15 p.m. on State Route 309 Memorial Highway, an officer was patrolling the area when a white sedan was spotted with a window tint violation, and the driver's license was suspended based on a PennDOT records check.
The officer tried to perform a traffic stop when the driver, Qawi Dave Wilson, failed to stop and quickly fled the area, according to officers. Authorities say that due to the dangerous way Wilson fled, the chase was called off.

Police stated officers with the Dallas Township Police found the suspect's car that had crashed near State 309 and Kunkle Road.
According to Kingston Township Police, Wilson was fleeing into a wooded area on foot, and with help from police K-9 Dilly, a drone, and several other agencies, a search began.
Wilson was found in a wooded area off Lake Street, where he was taken into custody without further incident.
Wilson remains in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility after being denied bail. He is facing several charges, including fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, evading arrest, and other related offenses.
Officials say the investigation into the incident is still active, but police believe it was an isolated incident and there is no further threat to the public.
