ATV rider wanted after allegedly fleeing from police

DURYEA, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are looking for an ATV rider who allegedly fled from them in Luzerne County.

On August 14, around 8:49 p.m., Duryea police officers were on patrol in the area of Foote Avenue and Marcy Street when they saw an unregistered yellow ATV.

Police say when the ATV passed officers, the rider turned his head away, "appearing to avoid identification."

Officers said they tried to pull the ATV rider over on Stephenson Street, but the ATV did not stop; instead, they accelerated to flee. The rider began driving "recklessly", entering the lane for oncoming traffic to pass vehicles, police noted.
