Bresnahan unveils new legislation, holds round table in Dallas

DALLAS, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — New legislation is being rolled out by a state lawmaker. US Representative Rob Bresnahan held a roundtable and unveiling event on Wednesday at Braces Orchard in Dallas.

The event showcased the Local Farmers Feeding Our Communities Act, legislation the representative says is aimed at securing long-term investments in local food systems.

Farmers, food banks, and community food advocates also came together to share the importance of supporting local agriculture and access to food.

Bresnahan described the legislation as practical.

"This is a very pragmatic common sense piece of legislation, it's about supporting our local farmers, it's supporting our families in need and marrying the two back together," Bresnahan explained.

Bresnahan says the legislation also ensures investments will be included in a new farm bill lawmakers are working on, known as Farm Bill 2.0.
