Wyoming County Fair begins Wednesday

MESHOPPEN TOWNSHIP, WYOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A timeless tradition returns Wednesday, with a twist of fun in Wyoming County.

28/22's Sydney Kostus has more on how its annual fair is bringing another year of laughter, lights, and legacy.

Vacant grandstands won’t stay empty for long at the Wyoming County Fair on Wednesday morning, as day one of its six-day event will bring plenty of tractor pulls and live music to these grounds in Meshoppen Township.

“We got a great team here that puts the whole show on for everybody, and we’ve been working hard to get the grounds ready for the last week or so, so we’re excited to have everybody finally get here,” said Josh Kinter, sponsor chair on the Wyoming County Fair Board.

The sponsor chair of the fair is Josh Kinter, who grew up coming to the end-of-summer staple.

Now getting a chance to take part in the tradition from the other side, he says the affordable cost for families is a big draw.

“Ten-dollar admission ticket will get them access to all the rides, all the games, and all the events that are going on around,” explained Kinter.

This hometown favorite has turned decades of ordinary days into unforgettable nights, and this year, they have their largest vendor selection, in addition to their military appreciation dayon Saturday.

Fairgoers can stop by the newly renovated Veterans Memorial Pavilion, and you can also donate to the fair by purchasing an engraved veterans stone.

Year after year, upgrades that keep up with the growing crowds. Delicious food, rides, and farm animals give an inside look at the rural area. Spotlighting the hard work of local communities to around 60,000 visitors each year.

“I’m always surprised at the people I talk to with how far they’ve come and how much they appreciate us putting this on. Where they can come out and experience the animals and just be outside the city, we’re right next to the river down here, so you get a little taste of everything Northeast Pennsylvania has to offer,” said Kinter.

The Wyoming County Fair runs through Labor Day.

The gates open on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
