The driver, Michael Propes, 35, of Carbondale, made an abrupt right turn, causing his vehicle to lose control and travel off the shoulder, hitting a light post, then a concrete base, PSP reported.

Propes' vehicle overturned and ended up on the roof. Police stated Propes was ejected from the vehicle and was later pronounced dead at the Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton.

Lackawanna County Timothy Rowland stated Propes had a white Pitbull puppy named Storm, who was traveling with him and was last seen on an embankment near the Meredith Street off-ramp. It is unclear if the dog remains missing at this time.
