We are more connected to the rest of the world than ever before, thanks to social media.
Several students at the University of Scranton have told me that witnessing tragic events on social media has become a slowly growing norm.

"Then, seeing the end of his life. It's pretty terrifying to think that we have so much access to that sort of video," said Andrew Danowski, a student at the University of Scranton.
"It is terrifying that people of all ages, no matter what they can just see videos like that. I think it also causes a lot of desensitization," added John Kearns, a student at the University of Scranton.
Social platforms do have disclaimers in front of graphic content, but all it takes is one click of a button to see content that someone may not want to see.
