WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Call it a celebration of diversity in downtown Wilkes-Barre. About a dozen or so groups danced down South Main Street for the city's Annual Multi-Cultural Parade and Festival.
Participants wore clothing that reflected their cultural background. Many people, including children, lined the sidewalks to watch.
After that, performers took to the stage and got the crowd moving with upbeat music.

Those enjoying the festival are grateful for this show of community in the center city.
"It's always the best place to be. Wherever there is diversity, I feel like you should always chase that in the landscape of life," Wilkes-Barre residents Joshua Kennedy and Omari Lashley told 28/22 News.
"From every, you know, LGBTQ down to, we have a big, big Mexican population here, everybody has a place and everybody deserves to have a place, and if that's Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, then we should embrace that," Lori Napkori from Wilkes-Barre said.
Also on hand for the event was Guillermo Lara of Hazleton, a member of the governor's advisory commission on Latino affairs, who presented Mayor George Brown a proclamation from Governor Shapiro acknowledging the importance of the event.
