SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man is facing charges after allegedly firing multiple shots inside a house in Scranton on Wednesday night.
Police were dispatched to Deacon Street in Scranton after multiple neighbors reported hearing shots being fired rapidly inside a residence. It was also reported that the suspect, Alex Javier Ferreira, had a revolver and had threatened people with the weapon in the past, the criminal complaint states.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers say they called occupants to exit the residence, and two women complied. The women told police that they lived in the house with Ferreira, who both reported that he had left the residence, but their information conflicted on his location.

Police say that one of the women reported getting into an argument with the neighbor over dogs. She said that the neighbors had been taunting Ferreira about never using his firearm. She returned to the house and said Ferreira fired several rounds into the air. She reported that Ferreira did not leave the house after the incident and believed the firearm was still inside the residence.
The neighbor involved in the argument reported that she was fearful during the encounter because Ferreira had made threats regarding his weapon in the past, according to the criminal complaint. After the argument, she said she returned inside and heard several gunshots a few minutes later.
Officers say they remained on scene and continued to ask all residents to exit the house. Ferreira eventually came outside and was detained.
Upon questioning, Ferreira's accounts were inconsistent, reporting several different locations at the time of the incident, police say. He denied that the altercation took place at all and claimed no gunshots were fired. Police say he reported the sound neighbors heard was him throwing Pop Rocks at the porch.
Officers did a sweep of the residence to ensure no one was injured and found shell casings near the back porch as well as a firearm registered to Ferreira, according to the report.
Ferreira faces charges for terroristic threats, reckless endangerment, harassment, and disorderly conduct.
