According to the Department of Justice, Guntur and Jones willingly failed to collect over $1.3 million in employment taxes during that timeframe.
Guntur and Jones pled guilty to one count of failure to remit employment taxes. Both agreed to make a full restitution of the money due as part of their sentence.
“Business owners have a responsibility to withhold income taxes for their employees andthen remit those taxes to the Internal Revenue Service,” stated Yury Kruty, Special Agent inCharge, IRS-Criminal Investigation, Philadelphia Field Office.
They face a maximum penalty of five years of imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine.
