SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Earlier this Monday, a rally was held in Lackawanna County to demand that Republican politicians in our area prioritize families in the federal budget.
28/22 News Reporter Connor Coar was in Scranton and spoke with people at the rally.
A crowd of approximately 15 people gathered outside Congressman Rob Bresnahan's office on Monday, located on North Washington Avenue, to advocate for the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
Members of the crowd initially met at U.S. Senator Dave McCromick's office this afternoon, before heading to Congressman Rob Bresnahan's office just down the road.

Many signs they held read "Save the ACA," "Hands off our healthcare," along with other phrases.
Demonstrators shared stories of the potential dangers they believe could happen if the US Congress allowed the enhanced ACA premium tax credits to expire in Pennsylvania.
One man shares a story about a family whose premium for their child will increase from just over $100 to over $700 a month if the act expires at the start of the new year.
"A lot of people, you know, we've seen stories in the news of people with diabetes rationing their insulin or people with anxiety disorders, not being able to afford their anxiety medication, and cancer not being able to get treatment right away, so I think that what we're looking at is a real health care crisis in this country," Michelle Rothenbecker, Chief of Staff, Action Together NEPA, explained.
28/22 News did reach out to Congressman Bresnahan's office for comment and received the following statement:
It is abhorrent that the very man who caused Rep. Bresnahan and his wife to receive death threats is now spreading more lies about him. Rob fights every day to improve healthcare for his constituents, from advocating to House Leadership to extend ACA tax credits to guaranteeing local hospitals will see benefits from the Rural Transformation Health Fund to working with State Rep. Kosierowski and Governor Shapiro’s team to maintain the region’s hospitals. He will continue to fight to improve healthcare, but he will not side with far-left Democrats who want to shut down the federal government just to pitch a fit. Rep. Bresnahan will not jeopardize paychecks for our troops overseas, our law enforcement, or our Social Security offices, but apparently the far-left would, and it’s shameful.
