YMCA collects Halloween costume donations in Dunmore

DUNMORE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Greater Scranton YMCA in Dunmore is kicking off its Inaugural Halloween Costume Drive. The YMCA is accepting new and gently used costumes in sizes that range from infant all the way up to adult.

You can stop and make a donation starting Monday, September 22, until Monday, October 6.

Following that, families can pick up costumes from October 7 through October 9.

This gives families an opportunity to find fun costumes for free, with Halloween a little more than a month away.

"Community Response, both from dropping off clothes to family members and adults and individuals in need coming to pick them up, has been very overwhelming, so that also was a reason why we decided to do something like this. We know our community will respond well, and families and evil will come pick it up," Greater Scranton YMCA Mission Advancement and Marketing Director Meghan Carnevale explained.

If parents and kids want to save their costumes for more fun, the Greater Scranton YMCA is also hosting its first Trunk-or-Treat on October 22. It's also free and open to the community.
