WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — It's National Child Passenger Safety Week, and the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) are offering free car seat checks. Parents and caregivers can have car seats installed and learn how to do it themselves, including at Motorworld in Wilkes-Barre.
While there, you can learn how to properly secure a child in a car seat. Plus, you can check for seat recalls and even get a seat at a reduced cost.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation says three out of four car seats that come through these checks are not installed properly.
"We're giving car seats away, it's not just that, it's about giving proper education, and all parents should look into their car seats, go get them checked this week, it's national child passenger safety week," Northeast Coordinator for Traffic Injury Prevention Project, Cathy Connors, told 28/22 News.
PSP offers designated walk-in days every month for a child safety seat technician to install or inspect child safety seats free of charge.
