DALLAS, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Abused and neglected children can sometimes be overlooked in court.
That's why an event held last night raised $250,000 to support volunteers who represent those children.
Funds raised at the Beaumont Inn in Dallas for CASA of Wyoming Valley will help recruit, train, and support community advocates to be the voice of children in the court system.
CASA says there are over 400 children in the dependency court systems in Luzerne and Wyoming County, and events like this help to raise the funds to make sure all the children are all safe and secure.
