Lackawanna Trail football game postponed, rescheduled for safety

FACTORYVILLE, WYOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A varsity football game between Lackawanna Trail and Old Forge school districts on Friday night has been postponed due to safety concerns.

Lackawanna Trail announced the postponement on their Facebook page on Friday afternoon. The game was set to take place at Lackawanna Trail on Friday night.

The superintendent of Lackawanna Trail School District, Matthew Rakauskas, stated that the postponement was due to information obtained by the school and law enforcement regarding safety concerns.

As reported earlier today, the varsity football game vs. Old Forge was postponed due to safety concerns. Thank you to those of you  who brought those safety concerns to our attention, we worked collaboratively with law enforcement to investigate each report. The football game has been rescheduled for Sunday at 1:00, and the homecoming court will be introduced at halftime of the game as per tradition. Also, the homecoming dance will run as scheduled on Saturday at 6:00. Both events will have additional security.

A Facebook post from the Old Forge School District states that the game is tentatively rescheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.
