Local bar prepping for Penn State's White Out game

PECKVILLE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— More than 107,000 people are expected to be in Beaver Stadium for Penn State's out game, and many more will be watching from their homes and local bars. 28/22 News reporter Connor Coar stopped by one bar in Peckville that's busy preparing for the game.

Benny's Sports Bar and Restaurant in Peckville typically draws large crowds on weekends, but on Saturday, the noise is expected to be deafening for the Penn State game against Oregon.

A top ten college football game is going to bring out the loudest of fans in Peckville.

Staff at Benny's tells 28/22 News they ordered ten extra boxes of chicken and other food for the expected crowd.

The manager of the bar also told us they already have over twenty to go orders.

28/22 Sports Night talks Penn State vs Oregon

Some Penn State fans were eating at the sports bar when 28/22 News stopped in.

They told 28/22 News that their family plans are to make a whole day out of the big game.

"I'm going to be going over to my uncle Dan's house. We are going to be up early, making hot dogs and burgers. We are going to be tailgating in PA, in our part of PA," said Colin Wells, Penn State fan, 2025 graduate.

Wells graduated from Penn State this past May.

He went to all four white-out games during his four years.

He graduated from Penn State with a degree in Communications and gave his score prediction for the game.

"I really just think tomorrow is going to be a shootout. I think I am going to go 28-21 Penn State," predicted Wells.

Wells says there is no way for Oregon to prepare for Saturday's White Out game, truly.

"I don't think they can even comprehend that, because there is no other environment like it. In college football, the NFL, and any other sport. Honestly, the closest thing is probably the national championship for them," stated Wells.

Jaime Jones is the manager at Benny's Sports Bar.

She gives credit to the Penn State faithful who will be crowding the bars on Saturday night, making her job more enjoyable.

"Although I am not a Penn State fan, they bring great energy. Their fans are super excited. They're always yelling at the TV. It makes it exciting," expressed Jones.

Benny's will have drink and wing specials for the game, and the staff tells 28/22 News that they are expecting to be slammed and have additional help for the White Out.

There are roughly 25 hours until the game is expected to kick off, but who's counting? We are!

And so is Benny's, here in Peckville, and at their two other locations in Clarks Summit and Green Ridge.

If you are watching from home, you can watch the game here on WBRE.
