POTTSVILLE, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A local farm in the area has opened a new shop that puts farm fresh goods front and center, while also keeping every dollar close to the fields it came from.
Shoppers no longer have to wonder where their food comes from. At The Farm Store on East Norwegian Street in Pottsville, the answer is: local.
“There aren’t many people in the community that can go around and drive to every single farm and buy the things that they can buy here, so the convenience and the ability to have it all in one place is really unique,” shared Angela Meck, The Farm Store owner and Honey Brook Farm co-owner.
The shop is a new chapter for PA agriculture, offering only regional farm and small business products. Something owner Angela Meck is familiar with, as she owns Honey Brook Farm with her husband.

“I know from being a farmer how much it means to make a sale of the caliber and amount of money that we’re buying from some of these other farmers,” said Meck.
The Farm Store works with around 50 Pennsylvania local farms, many of them saying where it comes from right on the label, just like Bad Farms raw milk coming from Kempton, Pennsylvania.
Since opening in February, Meck says they've been exploring ideas to expand and keep up with demand, crediting the quality of healthy food.
Ranging from meats to produce, and pantry staples, the ingredients stick to the basics of natural and organic.
“Picking products to bring in here, I’m thinking about my kids. What I want to eat, what I want my kids to eat,” said Meck.
With the shop being the only grocery store in this part of downtown Pottsville, it’s a great place for locals to walk to and a solid stream of profit going toward hardworking farmers, no matter the harvest season.
“Having an outlet like this where it’s consistent hours, where we buy it at wholesale and we resell it, it allows the farmers to make really big sales and not have to sit all day,” explained Meck.
The Farm Store in Pottsville is open every day beginning at 9 a.m.
Starting this week, the local shop will offer online sales and grocery delivery.
