$14,000, 30 grams of cocaine seized after months-long drug investigation

HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A months-long drug investigation resulted in 30 grams of cocaine and $14,000 in cash seized from the alleged dealer's home.

On September 29, around 6:05 a.m., Daneil Oritz was arrested after a two-month investigation the Hazleton Police Department Narcotics Unit handled as part of the Luzerne County Drug Task Force.

During the investigation, detectives conducted several surveillance details and controlled buys of cocaine from Ortiz. Officers then executed a search warrant at a home in the 100 block of East Broad Street in West Hazleton. 

Investigators say the search resulted in over 30 grams of cocaine, $14,773.00 in cash, and a stolen handgun being seized. 

Ortiz was charged with delivery of a controlled substance – cocaine, and other related offenses.

His bail was set at $150,000, and he remains at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.
