Friends of the Poor, Catherine McAuley Center combine

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — With the increasing need for housing and shelter for disadvantaged families, and food insecurity, two nonprofits are coming together.

Friends of the Poor and the Catherine McAuley Center announced on Wednesday that they will collaborate to better serve the community.

"We had similar missions. We had complementary programming. We have the same value statement, the same faith, and so really it was a natural partnership that came together. We're better together. We're stronger together. We can serve more people and we can be around for the long-term," President and CEO Friends of the Poor and Catherine McAuley Center, Meghan Loftus, told 28/22 News.

They also announced the details for the 49th annual Thanksgiving week, which will be held on November 25 at the Scranton Cultural Center.
