Home heavily damaged after Wyoming County fire

EATON TOWNSHIP, WYOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Firefighters were busy battling flames near Tunkhannock.

According to the Assistant Chief of the Truiton Hose Company, Chris Ritz, crews were called just after 2:00 p.m. for a house fire on Keelersburg Road.

When crews arrived on the scene, they found heavy fire on the first and second floors of the front of the house.

Ritz stated that the fire along the narrow stretch of road, along with a lack of water supply, presented some issues.

Officials say a nearby boat launch was used to help collect water to battle the fire.

The fire reignited in the attic multiple times during the battle, but crews ultimately extinguished it.

Ritz says that the fire was contained within half an hour.

No one was in the house at the time of the fire, but three people lived in the home, according to Ritz.

Ritz estimated that there were between 10 and 15 departments on the scene from three counties.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
