WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — An annual run is keeping alive the memory of a Wilkes University graduate who lost her battle with cancer. Dozens of runners, including some clad in pink, took part on Sunday in the Fourth Annual Kisses to Cancer 5K.
They took off along the Luzerne County Levee Trail near the Dorothy Dickson Dart Center.
The run honors the life and legacy of the late Air Force Major Candice Adams Ismirle.

The 34-year-old Brodheadsville native died in 2016 from breast cancer.
"I think Candice's impact here, almost 10 years after she's not with us anymore, continues to echo, and I think that's what feels best for her family and all of her friends, that she can still have an effect on people she never knew today by connecting them with other people, helping them understand resiliency," Brother of Candice Adams Ismirle Michael Adams told 28/22 News.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Relay for Life, the Valor Clinic Foundation, and Leadership Development Programs for Wilkes students.
