Wilkes-Barre residents come out for E-Recycling, paper shredding event

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Wilkes-Barre City residents came out on Monday for a special recycling event. A drive-through E-Recycling and Paper Shredding event was held for city residents at the Wilkes-Barre Public Works facility.

Those who attended had to present proof of residency.

Electronics such as laptop computers, keyboards, and microwaves were accepted free of charge.

Additional items such as TVs, stereos, and monitors were accepted with a fee.

Residents could also bring up to three boxes of documents to shred.

"It's about the environment and doing our part, keeping people from throwing them elsewhere, we're getting called a lot to pick up debris, mattresses, electronics, paper good throughout the day, every day," Wilkes-Barre DPW Supervisor David Lewis told 28/22 News.

If you couldn't make it out on Monday, the event will be held again on Thursday, October 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
