COVID-19 vaccine available at local Price Chopper locations

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU-TV) — As Pennsylvania races to meet the demand for COVID-19 vaccines, another local pharmacy is able to offer the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to the community.

If you're in phase 1-A you are able to sign up at the Price Chopper location in Wyoming and the pharmacy in Montrose.

"Many patients they already get their vaccines at their local pharmacy, they find it to be conveinent," said Kim Demagistris, clinical pharmacy manager.

Beginning this week, Price Chopper pharmacies in Wyoming and Montrose began offering the shot.

Healthcare officials recommending people wear two masks as COVID-19 variants spread

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU-TV) — As the COVID-19 pandemic heads into its second year, healthcare officials are now recommending people wear two masks in what is known as “double masking.”

Dr. Michael Evans, the medical director for Lehigh Valley Physicians Group in Hazleton, is among those that say it’s important, especially as new variants of COVID-19 are found in the country and the state.

According to Evans, any two masks work better than just one, whether it be two surgical masks, two cloth masks or a combination.

West Pharmaceuticals has been a global supplier of drug packaging and containment products for decades.

But in the midst of a pandemic, their facility in Jersey Shore is facing increasing demand for some specific components needed to get the COVID-19 vaccine to those who need it most.

Dept. of Health: More than 1.1 million vaccinations administered to date

HARRISBURG, DAUPHIN COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU-TV) — Department of Health Senior Advisor Lindsey Mauldin hosted a virtual media briefing to provide a COVID-19 vaccine update in Pennsylvania. 

According to the Department of Health, more than 1.1 million vaccinations have been administered as of Friday, February 5.
